Finding a job on your own is not an easy task. Our staff of professionals can help you find your first job, a better job, or assist with your career change. If you have become unemployed, re-entry into the job market can be intimidating. We are here to support and assist you in obtaining a position with a new organization. Job Search
It is recommended that you conduct daily job searches. When your qualifications match a new position that becomes available, apply for it! However, please keep in mind that you must meet the minimum qualifications for the position. If the position requires a referral, just stop by your local Center - no appointment needed. Some employers do require an additional level of screening prior to referral, so if a job posting does not provide detailed information, a staff member at any Center can provide assistance.
Work History
Enter your resume into the Employ Florida Marketplace system using the user-friendly resume builder tool. It is important to make your resume "searchable", which means that you should not "cut and paste" information from an existing document. If you are unsure about the amount and type of information to include in your resume, CareerSource Heartland offers workshops at all four locations. Workshops include resume writing assistance and a variety of other topics.
The Next Steps
After registering in Employ Florida, you will be asked to enter your resume and background information. Employers search the Employ Florida Marketplace every day looking to find the right candidate to interview and select, and a complete "portfolio" get you noticed! In addition, our own staff may take notice when trying to fill a job order for an employer.
Don't Give Up!
If the positions you have applied for do not result in interviews, re-evaluate your situation. Does your resume need refining? Do you need additional training? We encourage you to come into our Centers and speak to a Career Counselor about your job search strategy. If additional training is desired, attend one of our Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) orientation classes to learn about the training opportunities available.
