Employer Training Grants
CareerSource Heartland can help your business apply for programs that assist you in obtaining training dollars to raise employee skill levels. Our Business Operations team can assist you in determining your possible participation in these grants.
Employed Worker Training
Designed to meet the special requirements of an employer, the Employed Worker Program can help a current employee obtain the skills necessary to become more productive; improving their opportunity for advancement within a company. This customized training may be provided to a single employee or group of employees.
Incumbent Worker Training
The Incumbent Worker Training Program provides grant funding for customized training for existing for-profit businesses. Through this customer-driven program, we are able to effectively retain and keep businesses competitive through upgrade skills training for existing full-time employees.
On-The-Job-Training
OJT is provided for eligible candidates who have been hired by the employer following an agreement with CareerSource Heartland that the employer will provide the occupational training. In exchange, the employer can recoup up to 50 percent of the wages paid to the OJT participant during the training period.
Quick Response Training
The Quick Response Training Program provides grant funding for customized training for new or expanding businesses that produce an exportable product or service. Companies must be creating full-time, high-quality jobs requiring specialized training that is not available in the local community.

The Returning Heroes Tax Credit
A new hiring tax credit that will provide an incentive for businesses to hire unemployed veterans.
- Short-term Unemployed: A new credit of 40 percent of the first $6,000 of wages (up to $2,400) for employers who hire veterans who have been unemployed at least 4 weeks.
- Long-term unemployed: A new credit of 40 percent of the first $14,000 of wages (up to $5,600) for employers who hire veterans who have been unemployed longer than 6 months.

The Wounded Warrior Tax Credit
Will double the existing tax credit for long-term unemployed veterans with service-connected disabilities.
Maintain the existing Work Opportunity Tax Credit for veterans with service-connected disabilities (currently the maximum is $4,800).
A new credit of 40 percent of the first $24,000 of wages (up to $9,600) for firms that hire veterans with service-connected disabilities who have been unemployed longer than 6 months.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)
The WOTC was designed to provide a tax incentive to private for-profit employers for hiring individuals from certain target groups who experience high rates of unemployment due to a variety of employment barriers. Tax credits are computed on the annual wages of each qualified employee with a maximum allowable credit of $2,400 per employee.
